REGULATIONS

 

ART 1. ORGANIZATION

1.1 The ASSOCIACIÓ ESPORTIVA CAT700 CATALUNYA is the organizer of the CAT700 and the GRAN VERTICAL.

1.2 The CAT700 and the GRAN VERTICAL are non-competitive long-distance cycling events, which are run on a self-sufficient and non-stop basis, and are governed by these regulations.

ART 2. ROUTE

2.1 The CAT700 has a route of between 400 and 900 kilometers, and the GRAN VERTICAL has a route of between 300 and 400 kilometers.

2.2 Each participant must be fully aware of the length, difficulty and physical demands of the routes.

2.3 The route is run on a self-sufficient and non-stop basis. External assistance is not permitted, which means that each participant must manage their own food and drink, as well as their sleeping hours during the days of the event.

2.4 CAT700 participants have 110 hours, while those in the GRAN VERTICAL have 60 hours to complete the route.

2.5 The route will not be marked on the ground, but participants will have to follow the track, which will be sent to all registered participants days before the start. It is the responsibility of each participant to load the track of the race into their GPS and to follow the route indicated. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

2.6 The sections of the route that run along secondary roads or streets in towns will not be closed to traffic, and participants must follow the general traffic regulations or the instructions of the organisation.

2.7 The organisation may make any changes it deems necessary to the route, including the suspension of the event, if weather conditions so advise, or for other reasons of force majeure beyond its control. In this case, and once the start has taken place, the registration fees will not be refunded.

2.8 If changes are necessary to the route, the decision will be announced during the previous week through social networks and the official website of the event.

2.9 If it is necessary to cancel the event before the scheduled date and more than seven days before the departure date, a partial refund of the registration fee will be made. The percentage of this amount will vary depending on the date of the cancellation and therefore on the expenses already incurred. In the event that this cancellation occurs during the seven days prior to departure and for reasons beyond the control of the organization, no refund will be provided.

2.10. There will be a mandatory time cut at some points of the route, with options to shorten the route.

ART 3. SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND NON-STOP

3.1 Given the self-sufficiency nature of the event, each participant must plan the amount of food and drink they consider necessary to be able to complete the route day by day.

3.2 The organization will not establish refreshment points.

3.3 It is not permitted to receive assistance from an external monitoring team. Any participant who receives this type of external help will be disqualified (except in the case of an accident or emergency).

3.4 It is permitted to buy food, drink and spare parts, as well as to consume in restaurants and bars, and to stay in hotels or inns.

ART 4. MATERIAL

The mandatory material may vary at the discretion of the organization and depending on weather forecasts. Any change will be communicated to participants in advance.

The mandatory material will be checked at the start, and randomly at any point along the route.

4.1 Type of bicycle

Each participant chooses the bicycle they wish to use, it is necessary to take into account the recommendations for each of the modalities.

The route must be completed with the same bicycle from the start to the finish.

4.2 Mandatory material

  • Helmet
  • Thermal blanket with a minimum surface area of ​​1 x 2 m
  • Thermal T-shirt
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Sleeping bag or survival bag.
    *ATTENTION: this bag does NOT replace the thermal blanket
  • Whistle
  • Water tank (bottles or water bag)
  • Food reserve (bars, gels, etc.)
  • ID or passport
  • GPS with the race track, GPS charger or spare batteries
  • Mobile phone with fully charged battery and switched on throughout the race, and charger.
  • GPS tracking device (provided by the organization)

Lighting and visibility

  • Headlight with spare battery or charger.
  • Spare headlamp (can be a light headlamp)
  • Flashing red rear lamp. It must be turned on at night.
  • Reflective vest or body tape. It must be worn at night on road sections.

Spare equipment

  • 2 cameras
  • Patches
  • Detachable
  • Multi-tool
  • Chain remover
  • Chain pin

Emergency kit

  • 2 single-dose saline solution
  • 2 sterile compresses
  • 2 sterile dressings for wounds and scratches
  • Painkillers
  • Adhesive tape
  • Elastic bandage
  • Quick-dry stitches

4.2 Recommended material

  • Sunscreen
  • Sleeping bag or survival bag.
  • Solar chargers or dynamo
  • External batteries (power bank)
  • Spare clothing
  • Arm and leg warmers
  • Vaseline

4.3 If necessary, the organisation may modify the mandatory material. The change will be notified to the participants with sufficient advance notice.

4.4 It will not be permitted to receive or return material to any external assistance. Material may not be abandoned.

4.5 It will be mandatory to have the headlamp and the rear red light on as required by natural light.

ART 5. SAFETY AND ABANDONMENTS

5.1 There will be staff from the organization who will ensure the safety of the participants. It is mandatory to follow the instructions of this staff.

5.2 In the event of abandonment, it is mandatory to notify the organization staff as soon as possible through the telephone number provided by the organization.

5.3 Except in the case of an accident, the organization will not be responsible for transporting participants who abandon.

5.4 Once the withdrawal has been communicated, the participant must return the tracking device provided by the organization. From that moment on, he/she will be outside the event and will assume any responsibility derived from his/her withdrawal.

5.5 In the event of the need for evacuation due to an accident, the organization must be notified to activate the rescue operation. 5.6 The organization may withdraw or temporarily stop, at its discretion, participants who have obvious physical problems (vomiting, diarrhea, disorientation, fainting, etc.) that may endanger their health, or those who are not physically able to continue.

5.7 Participants are obliged to provide assistance to those who have had an accident or who require it. Those who fail to comply with this obligation will be disqualified.

ART 6. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

6.1 The CAT700 and the GRAN VERTICAL are open to all athletes who are at least 18 years old on the day of the event.

6.2 By registering, all participants are aware of and accept these regulations without reservation. 6.3 By registering, participants confirm that they are fully informed of the events and are aware of their length, difficulty and physical demands. They confirm that they have the knowledge, experience, equipment and the physical and psychological levels necessary to be able to withstand and overcome possible problems related to the demands of a long-distance non-stop event.

6.4 The organization reserves the right to exclude those whose conduct hinders or interferes with the proper development of the event.

ART 7. REGISTRATIONS AND INSURANCE

7.1 Registrations and payment will be made following the instructions on the registration form. Registrations are personal and non-transferable. In no case and under no circumstances can changes or transfers of registration be made.

To participate, it is mandatory to have accident insurance with coverage for this type of event or to subscribe to the insurance provided by the organization, which provides medical coverage for physical injuries suffered by the participant, but does not cover material damage to the bicycle or other accessories.

7.2 Cancellation of registration.

Participants may cancel their registration and receive a partial refund of the participation fee for any reason that prevents them from doing so on the stipulated date.

The amount that will be refunded to the participant who cancels their registration will be 80% of the total registration fee up to 2 months before the test; and 50% up to 20 days before, plus registration management fees (3.5%).

Cancellations from 20 days before the test: no refund will be made.

Once the request for cancellation has been made, the place becomes available to the organization, which will give it to the candidate who occupies the first position on the waiting list at that time.

In no case does cancellation give the person who cancels the registration the right to choose a substitute.

7.3 Waiting list for new participants.

All those who wish to participate and have not obtained a place may sign up for a waiting list that will give them the option, in strict order of registration, to obtain a place, if any of the registered participants cancel their registration.

The payment conditions for those registered through the waiting list will be those that exist at the time of registration, not those at the time of signing up for the waiting list.

7.4 Registered participants.

The organization reserves a number of registrations, outside the limit of registered participants, which it will use according to its needs.

ART 8. ACCREDITATIONS

To formalize the registration on the day of departure, participants will have to be accredited and present their ID, passport or equivalent document for foreign participants.

ART 9. DEPARTURE CONTROL

Prior to departure, a control will be carried out.

9.1 During this control, a verification of the mandatory material will be carried out.

9.2 Participants who do not carry the required material, or who present it unusable or defective at the start control, will not be allowed to start.

ART 10. DISQUALIFICATIONS

  • Not passing through the start control.
  • Not following the track.
  • Changing or transferring the registration to another person.
  • Shortening or cutting short the route.
  • Receiving help from an external tracking team.
  • Using any means of transport other than one’s own bicycle.
  • Not providing assistance to other participants who request help.
  • Violations against the environment.
  • Disobeying orders from the organization.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct towards other participants or towards the organization.
  • Exceeding the time limit.
  • Refusing to carry out an inspection of material.

ART 11. PENALTIES

  • Voluntarily throwing away waste, rubbish or packaging in non-authorised areas: 2 h
  • Lack of mandatory material: 1 h for each item
  • Abandoning material: 2 h

ART 12. IMAGE RIGHTS

12.1 The organisation reserves the exclusive right to the image of the event, as well as the right to exploit the images, photographs and video of the event.

12.2 The organisation may use this graphic material in advertisements, press releases or any other promotional purpose of the event, whether on the occasion of the CAT700, the GRAN VERTICAL, or other events of the ASSOCIACIÓ ESPORTIVA CAT700 CATALUNYA.

12.3 Any media or advertising project must have the consent of the organisation.

ART 13. DATA PROTECTION

In accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 15/1999 on the protection of personal data and Law 34/2002 on information society services, the personal data collected will form part of a database included in a file owned by ASSOCIACIÓ ESPORTIVA CAT700 CATALUNYA. These data will be processed for the following purposes:

  • To manage the data relating to the registered participants, data necessary for the organisation, realisation and publication of times and tracks.
  • To inform about new activities, events and services carried out by ASSOCIACIÓ ESPORTIVA CAT700 CATALUNYA.
  • ASSOCIACIÓ ESPORTIVA CAT700 CATALUNYA may share the registration data of its events with collaborating entities and brands.
  • Participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition by sending an email to: info@cat700.com

ART 14. ACCEPTANCE AND RESPONSIBILITY

14.1 The registered persons participate in the CAT700 and the GRAN VERTICAL under their own responsibility. The decision of the start and realization of this self-sufficient and non-stop event falls upon them. The participant must have cycling experience and is solely responsible for their behavior and the consequences that may arise, even in front of third parties. Therefore, they explicitly release the organizers of the CAT700 and the GRAN VERTICAL, the ASSOCIACIÓ ESPORTIVA CAT700 CATALUNYA, from any accident or eventuality that may arise from their participation.

14.2 The organization declines all responsibility in the event of an accident or negligence of the participant, as well as the loss or breakage of the personal objects of each participant. Each participant will be responsible for any damage or injury that may be caused to themselves or to third parties, exonerating the organization, ASSOCIACIÓ ESPORTIVA CAT700 CATALUNYA, from any liability in the event of an accident or injury.

14.3 By registering, participants accept the conditions established in these regulations.

14.4 Participants must sign the documents required to more clearly show any section of the regulations.

14.5 These regulations may be corrected, modified or improved at any time by the organization. The fact of registering shows the participant’s agreement with these regulations.
